December by Rev. Jim December is such a joyous time of the year, a time for giving and celebration. However, as we know, for us it can be a challenge, especially when the condition of our health or our families might lead us into a deep depression. I pray we all might be spared such a thing.
Back in the day when I worked in the real world, the season before Easter (known as Lent), had been traditionally viewed as a time to "give something up." But then I challenged each of them not to give up but rather to give. They were requested to do something positive for another every day.
The response was over-whelming from the people, they would return and speak of how it was becoming a habit, and that they felt like they had received far more blessings in return.
The upshot here is, during this Holy Season, let us pledge to do positive things each day for our families, friends and our community.
A word of warning, though, if you are out of practice, it is best to start out small or you will not be ready to handle all the returned blessings you will receive.
After all, this is a season which requires that we be ready to receive the greatest gift of all. ## ___________________________ Email thoughts to: jltucker@insightbb.com
