The Central Indiana Brain Injury Club-A Get Together House started?
Through the Brain Injury Association of Indiana, we have established a task force to begin the process of creating a TBI “clubhouse” for Indiana. This task force is comprised of professionals from the community, brain injury survivors, & family members of brain injury survivors. The goals of the task force are to conduct a needs assessment, secure funding & location, establish the program, & hire a director.
Mission Statement + To empower people with acquired brain injuries to enhance: + Self esteem + Self advocacy + Personal growth + Independence + Community Involvement + Fellowship
The Central Indiana Brain Injury Club House, a non-profit organization, will secure a location & develop programs to address social & vocational needs through a partnership of people with brain injuries, family members, professionals, & the community. If you can help or need more info contact Elizabeth Samuelson at esamuelson@ecommunity.com
Again-What is the Brain Injury Clubhouse?
A club house is a place where people who have a brain injury come to rebuild their lives. The participants are called members, not patients & the focus is on their strengths not their limitations. Work, whether it is clerical, data input, meal preparation or reaching out to their fellow members, provides the core healing process. Every opportunity provided is the result of the efforts of the members and staff, who work side by side, in a unique partnership.
